Why do you need someone else's SS#? Sounds kind of shady to me....and if I told you how, I would probably have to kill ya....;)

Strangely, the last four digits are what most banks use to verify credit card numbers. I wonder why you would need that?

I would have to guess that this particular activity is illegal. Ask the person... if they won't tell you, it's probably because they suspect you would do something illegal and harmful to them.

I agree with Turkey. If you can't just find out from the person, then you probably shouldn't know it at all. If I was a nice guy and knew you were using it for legal purposes I could get my dad to get it for you since he works for the SSA.

or maybe it does not fall into what the mod on duty thinks needs be modded.

This is probably not the case however.

There is no legitimate information that can be extrapolated using merely 4 digits of a social security number. None.

This leads me to believe that you intend to use it for verification (i.e. trying to verify that you are someone you aren't). As Russ pointed out, the obvious and most likely venue for this would be with credit cards.

Regardless, even if there was a way, if it was publicized on a site like this, the security of many, many people would be at risk. I seriously doubt you're going to find what you want here.

xaver,

you go to the local tax rolls, some are online.

you go to sales of real property in his name, law suits, etc, all public record....

some counties are online, some are not....

if it is a real ripoff, call the cops where he lives, be nice & explain, document by fax.... etc...

you can get it !
