AFAIK it will not be deployed in territories covered by SBC, Bellsouth, and Quest. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If indeed true, I'm stuck with Comcast for now as my area (Hollywood) is covered by SBC.

i think some places in orange county have had fiber since 2002, why didn't they start it in the LA metro area?

i think verizon is the only company that offers it right now so if you dont have verizon count yourself out.

wait a year for sbc/bellsouth. they are planning to roll out IPTV over FIOS.

For Verizon, you call by phone. The website isn't always up to date with deployments. Watch for people with large black cables... lots of people have witnessed it and wet their pants in excitement.

When I called, they gave me the solid answer of 6 months and that towns nearby already have it. It goes by CO... so it's pretty quick. The FIOS dept is very helpful and courteous on the phone.

maybe contact your local phone company? one of my local phone company offers fiO package ($70-80 phone+broadband). It's blazing fast and no modem required. Currently it's rated 8 meg and later they'll upgrade to 20 meg. my porn collection has since grown expoentially.
