yeah i understand that, but it seems like they're deliberately trying to extract more overdraft charges from you by making the highest charge hit first, no matter what order they came in during the day. their reason of higher charges being more important seemed ludicrous to me since they are all going to hit anyway, i dont see how that could be more important.

i'll probably just suck it up and live with it, and go to another bank, but wanted to complain somewhere. 🙂

Actually working for a bank in the software division, I can tell you this can happen without the fee intent. Some systems doesn't process anything until their cycle or batch time at night. Then all the credits and debits are organized and processed. Credits are usually processed before debts (so you will not go negative if you made a deposit after writing a check). Then all your debits are processed, not necessarily in chronological order. If I write a check and use my debt card, those come in from different interfaces. So chronological order isn't always the way the system sees things. The online banking systems can use all kinds of interesting cheats to appear 24hr when they really aren't completely.

If you go in and ask nicely, the should forgive the charges if you've been a good customer. But they can tell you that you have to pay and legally hold you to it. Complaining to anybody is going to be pointless. I know we have all kinds of info given to customers about funds availabilty and fees that no one ever paid any attention to. I worked as a teller for a while after school and customers did really stupid things with money.

You really don't want to get in a pissing match as they can put a big black mark on your credit. If your nice I really have a hard time believing they won't forgive the charges. If this is the 2nd time in a couple months, your screwed. Good luck!
