How can I draw graphs in LaTeX?

is Xy-Pic the de facto package i need? or do you guys recommend something else? i just need this to draw graphs and visual representations of trees, lists, etc.

Draw it in another program (Mathematica, Maple, Paint, whatever), then just import it.
