I hope to never count an essay like that ever again.
Is there a function in word pad that can count it for me?
I just learned a couple weeks ago that ctrl + 2 = double space.
I don't have to manually double space anymore...lol

Maybe there's some script out there?

Or should I just buy Microsoft Word... :(

dunno about wordpad, no need to buy Word if thats all you care for, OpenOffice will handle that. probably something simpler will, but hell if i know what.

You do know how to estimate right? You do know that an essay assignment of 1000 words is approximately 3 pages of double spaced type right?

Tell me there is some logical reason for counting each word?

FTW. ;)

Abiword works nicely as well, but lags terribly when saving files for me.

Gotta be a Freshman. I once had a classmate ask an English Professor what kind of paper she liked. Ummmm white?

You wrote a 1,000 word essay in WordPad?!? That thing doesn't even have a spell checker!

Add my name to the "You're nuts, use OpenOffice or Google Docs instead!" guest book :)

So copy your essay into a text file on a UNIX machine, then call 'wc essay' and it will give you the word count.

Yeah... That wouldn't work unless he saved it as a plain text file first. Wordpad saves everything in RTF format by default, which would add a bunch of formatting tags to his word count.

Thanks, OpenOffice is good. I didn't even know that I spelled Thomas Jefferson "Thomason Jefferon" almost every time.

And yes, this is my first semester of college.
