Hi all

Yesterday I installed some new nvidia drivers and everything is fine. But, when I went to the Microsoft system information\components\display I found there also as installed some old driver files from an old video card (matrox millenium) I had 2 years ago. So, I went to windows\system folder and deleted them, and I installed again the new nvidia drivers and DX8.1 (I also deleted the drvidx.bin and drvdata.bin files from windows\inf).
After all this I went again to microsoft system information\components\display but the old Matrox driver files that I had deleted before are still there as installed also with the new nvidia drivers. How can I delete them from there once I don't have them anymore?

Windows98 SE
Riva TNT2 PRO

Thanks in advance for the help.

Right click my computer. Go to Properties. Choose the Device Manager tab. click the plus (+) sign next to Display adapters. Click on the Matrox card then click on the Remove button at the bottom. after you removed it reboot and check if it's there.

Hi Motero

Many thanks for your prompt reply.

Yes, I already uninstalled that matrox video card long time ago. But some video drivers remained in my windows\system folder. I only noticed that yesterday after updating my Nvidia Riva tnt2 drivers. I went to system information\components\display and I saw my new nvidia drivers and the old matrox drivers as installed. So, I went to windows\system folder and deleted them, and I installed again the new nvidia drivers and DX8.1. After this I went again to system information\components\display but the old Matrox driver files that I had deleted before were still there as installed also with the new nvidia drivers. Now I don't know how can I delete them from my system information\components\display.
Thanks again

Fred

Perhaps there are some entries in the registry that didn't get deleted. Thats just a guess, but I know Windows can be notorious for leaving unwanted crap in the reg.

Hi Fireman
Thanks for reply to my post.
I don't know if it may cause follow problem I have some time ago:
Sometimes when I close any program, or I open many folders (windows), or I go to the folder options\file types or change the refresh rate. The start button or the shortcut little arrows or the 3 buttons to minimize, restore and close windows stay garbled (damage) or I can see inside them some small letters or eaven very small icons.
In my BIOS, the AGP fast write is turned off and AGP mode is 2x.
I already tried many things to fixe it but I couldn't, I don't know what this problem is.
Do you have any idea where in registry can looking for?

Best regards

Fred
