I am upgrading from a 40GB hard drive to an 80GB. I really don't want to have to reformat install and configure everything again, so I want to try to copy what's on my existing hard drive to the new drive. What is the best/easiest way to do this? Also my hard drive has 2 partitions on it if that makes any difference. Thanks.

If you go to the web site of the manufacturer of your new drive or old drive you should find software to download that will accomplish this for you. I know IBM, WD, Maxtor and Seagate have this.

Norton Ghost works great! I've also used PowerQuest's DriveImage/DriveCopy and they'll do exactly what you're looking for too.

My Maxtor Maxblast utility cannot see NTFS partitions in DOS. Any other utility that can see them and let me back up my main-Windows XP partition (c:\ drive)?

The easiest and cheapest way (if you don't already have one of the fancy imagers) is DriveCopy 4.0. It's DOS boot disks have no trouble with NTFS or multiple partitions. It is limited, however, to a 80GB drive on the top side. DC 4 is $29.95 in most stores. The Imagers approach $59.95.
