I live upstairs in a 3 bedroom townhouse in Florida. The air conditioning is on and set to 74 (anything below 72 and the whole unit freezes over) and we have all the celing fans on... How can i cool down my room, its always hot in here.... 🙁

<< Put a fan in the window, blowing out.

It will cool the entire house.

That worked really well with my dorm room 2 years ago (2 computers plus lots of electronic equipment)

take a shower, dont dry yourself. sit in front of the fan thats placed by the window.

now if chemistry served me right, it takes alotta of calories to evaporate water into gas, so when the water evaporates from your body, it is also taking alot of body heat with it.

Wow, i leave for 30 minutes and these are the answers i get... The future of our nation is sad 🙂

get a 8,000 BTU air conditioner just for your room.
Thats what I did in college - my room was only 140 sq feet - and I could make it into a refridgerator.

The weird thing is that i can feel the cold air pumpin outta my vent... But my room is always hot

close off all the vents in the other rooms, thats what i do at my house, for some reason the majority of the air passes by my room and goes into rooms at the ends of the house, once i close those off my room becomes freezing cold.

Is this a central unit? Close half of the vents on the first floor and cover a couple of the air returns. Make sure none of the air returns are covered or blocked up staris. Not much else you can do with a poorly designed system without a lot of work.

You need to keep the humidity down in the house for your AC to work efficiently.
so if you do buy the AC for your room, as per Mr. T's suggestion, keep the room closed, or you'll just be dehumitifying the house, not cooling it.
so in the end, get a new bigger AC unit for the house or your room, or move out of the swampville..
besides U Fla sucks.. who is Creighton anyway?

shower/ stay wet idea isn't the best because after the initial cooling, you'll get hot again.. 🙁
if all else fails you can always try the frozen boxer trick seen in Sierra Mist commercial 🙂

Excuse my retahded air conditioning terms, but how *hard* does your AC blow? If you don't feel the air ~5-6 feet away from the AC, then the air probably isn't circulating. What i did to fix our AC problem at my house (my living room is medium sized, and the AC would only project the air ~4 feet), was to setup a fan DIRECTLY in front of the AC. In doing so, the fan would pull the cold air, and direct it across the room. Hopefully the cool air will ricochet around the walls of your room, therefore cooling zee hot room of yours.

BTW, this only applies to those ACs that stick outta the window 😛
