How can I connect a PC desktop harddrive to a laptop?

The laptop HD connectors are not standard IDE connectors (at least on the ones i have worked with) they used a IDE+Power connector..similar to the SCA ( DATA + PWR 80 pin SCSI) connectors..which allow you to totally disconnect the HD by just pulling it out without having to touch the connectors thenselves..

So it looks like you will definetly need a converter...
