How can I become an American?

You have better chances that me. I never worked for Microsoft, am not a programmer or a high tech worker. And apparently I'm a Russian, and I know how much Americans hate us Russians. More than that... Don't ask this question here... You won't get any worthy replies anyway. It's such an intimate question you'd better keep it to yourself.

Wow, I'm sad to hear that you think that Americans hate Russians. I have several colleagues at work who are Russian, and a few Eastern European, and none have ever said something like this. Perhaps you have had a bad experience, but I really think that Americans don't hate Russians. If anything, Americans respect the fact that the Russian people have seen some of the worst of the 20th century, from the most brutal parts of WWII, to ethnic cleansing to despotic leadership. Perhaps some of the persons who reflect this attitude cannot discern between the people, and the government of the old USSR, which was, as Reagan said, the 'evil empire'.

As an added comment, I would like to someday visit St. Petersberg or Moscow, but not in the winter! ;)

PS. Booster, the Cold War is over. The USSR is no longer the enemy. We hate terrorists now.

We do? I know that I don't anyway; perhaps you're thinking of idiots. They are kind of numerous in this country. Some probably still think the Cold War is on, and that all the "commies" are after us yet, or some BS like that. THOSE are the kind of people I don't like.

I will agree though - there's got to be a better place than Anandtech OT to ask this. There's a better place than ATOT to ask just about ANY kind of serious question, and get serious replies back.;):D

Don't come into the country legally....that's just too boring. You should try to smuggle yourself into the country and pretend to be a seat in a van or something.

I'll consider that... NOT!

No one here probably remembers, but there was a man from Mexico that somehow wrapped himself into a seat and tried to be part of a van to sneak into the U.S.... He got caught and they took pictures of him. They were floating around the internet. It was pretty funny...I just couldn't find a link to the picture. Someone else might be able to find it. ;)

Good luck on making it over here. I agree, the U.S. is a great place. I'm sure you'll have no problems finding work once you get here. :)

This one right? Hahahaha

I'm not sure why people are talking about being denied a green card.... I've never heard of anyone being denied a green card. Btw, it takes 5 years or so for you to actually GET a green card. During that time, you cannot work legally. Make sure you have a big stash of cash.

First, your english is excellent, but your spelling is not. This can be corrected.

Secondly, it's just a bunch of stupid questions that even americans don't know, and I don't know why they make you know them.

Good luck getting over here. Don't blow anyone up.
