I have some important emails stored on the computer that I need to save before I reformat and reinstall. How can I do that? I have not been able to find those files anywhere on the computer. Thanks.

Assuming the full Outlook, not Outlook Express:

Open Outlook
Click File -> Import and Export
Select Export to a file
Select Personal Folder File (.pst)
Choose the folders you want backed up. Be sure to indicate if you want to save sub folders as well.
Choose a location for the file, and export.

Alternatively, look for the file "backup.pst", copy it to a safe location and format away.

Upon reinstall of Outlook, basically reverse the above, Import the file and all your emails, contacts, calendar info etc will be restored.

No just plain ol Outlook Express. I do not like Outlook in office at all. Damn you would think there would be a easy way to do this or that the files would be inside the hard drive somewhere but after all the searches I cannot find where they are located.

I believe those files are under (for WinXP anyway) c:\documents and settings\yourname\local settings\application data\Microsoft\Outlook Express. If they are not in a folder near there, check under that same path with "local settings" removed.

I don't use OE, but I backed someone else up recently and I'm pretty sure the files were around there.

Your files are located in C:\Documenta and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\bunchofgarbageletters\Microsoft\Outlook Express. You can copy this file to whereever, and then import from a "Outlook Express Store Folder". You will need to see hidden files to see the Local Settings folder.

BTW, to save your email client settings, go to Tools, Accounts, Export. This will save all of your email account settings like passwords and servers.

Yeah I have found that option but where does it save it to? :) Where can I find that file so I can put it back in its place once I format?
