Welcome to AnandTech Network Forum.
It really depends on what exactly you would like to do.
A combo Program of Remotely Controlling a Computer, and Files Transfer might be the solution.
Since Firewalls etc. might be a factor in such attempt. You should first find if it is possible and allowed on your Network.

Ultr@VNC 1.0.0 RC 11d.
What the "heck" is Ultr@VNC?
Ultr@VNC is an Excellent Fast & Free Remote Control, and File Transfer Program.
If you want to control a computer through the LAN, or and through the Internet it is the thing to use.
The program consists of one file; during installation it would ask whether you want to install the Server or the Viewer.
Install the Server on each Computer that you want to Control.
During installations check Yes to the Hook Options.
Once installed leave the default as is just change the Password.
Open port* 5900 in the Router for the VNC server computer. If there is software Firewall or any other TCP/IP interceptor open port 5900 as well.
Install the Viewer on the Computers that are going to be the
Controllers**. Open Port* 5900 through the system (as you did with the server).
Using It.
Double click on the Utra@VNC server. A nice Blue Diamond Icon would appear in the TrayBar.
Start the Viewer on the Controller Computer. Type the IP of the VNC Server Computer and click on Connect.
If connected correctly the Password Box would popup. Type the password and enjoy.
*Note1. Ports - You can use other ports (I suggest to stay around the same value 5800 to 5900 ).
The port assignment has to be changed in the Server.
When starting the viewer type the port number with the IP, using a : in-between.
Example:
http://192.168.1.1:5850
**Note2. I want to control few computers on the same Network.
Assign each computer using different ports number; do not use the same port for more than one computer.
Open the ports for the corresponding IP number in the Cable/DSL Router's Virtual Server. Open the same port in the software Firewall of the corresponding computer.
**Note3. You can Install both the server and the viewer on the same computer, and use the one or the other according to what you would like to do.
