Doesn't that imply you can contract the virus through saliva? WTF!?

"HIV is found in saliva, but in quantities too small to infect someone. If you drink a bucket of saliva from a positive person, you won't become infected. There has been only one recorded case of HIV transmission via kissing, out of all the many millions of recorded cases. In this case, both partners had extremely badly bleeding gums."

also:

"Some people have been spreading rumours that the virus is so small that it can pass through 'holes' in latex used to make condoms. This is untrue. Latex blocks HIV, as well as sperm - preventing pregnancy, too."

single men and women should be careful and respectful to themselves and each other... get tested, use protection... whatever.

...and the ones having extra-marital affairs... they get what they deserve.
Of course, it's possible they then pass it on to their faithful spouse, who doesn't deserve it.

Don't sleep with whores and don't be one yourself and you'll be okay.
Man that's the truth. To bad most of you guys never had the pleasure of being of age during the 70's when one night stands wasn't a risky adventure! Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll ruled😀

Thanks for creating the mess we enjoy today!
Fsck you, I'm not responsible for you and your generations misery. I've adapted to the change of times without any problem, if you feel the need to throw blame for your lack of discipline then you are a big loser! So we had a better time than you, tough sh!t, get over it and make your time the best experience you can. So you have to be more careful, unless you are a complete moron it shouldn't be to difficult.

Hippie angst?

Ugh, God damn. What unlucky bastard had to drink a bucket of saliva to test that one?

LOL Hippies were before my time, I didn't come to age until the early 70's, by then there were not to many Hippies around.

For single men/women and the ones having extra-marital affairs...

With the explosion of STDs, I feel that sex has become more of a worrying thing-to-do rather than a pleasurable activity. Reasions:

1. Even if you do wear protection, although unlikely, you could still get an STD.
2. If you get a person tested, you may be in that 3 month period where the test shows a negative.

Maybe I'm just paranoid about the whole thing...

No, you aren't. Sure made a better husband out of me.

Yeah, it was a wonderful time. The most that would happen was cured with a shot or a shotgun wedding.

The HIV virus will not pass through the pores of a fully functional and intact latex condom.

You can contract the HIV virus when using a condom if it is not fully functional and intact or not properly used.

Yeah, but those things break in mid stroke! Can you say - OOPS!, too late!

Sure that can happen. But that's not what Noobtastic was saying at all.

But, the fact is that a condom doesn't guarantee anything. The thread is about sex being unsafe because of STD's. The defense is use rubbers or steady partners. Rubbers are just russian roulette! The whole discussion about what does and does not pass through the pores in them is irrevalent.

Don't be a fool, wrap your tool. Oh, and keep your man meat away from the skanky women.

Remember those two things, and you'll probably be OK.

1. Use condoms.

I would until I read somewhere where a doctor quoted:
'We don't call it safest sex, we call it safer sex...'

So not 100% guaranteed 🙁

This is true.

The aids virus is smaller then the pours in a condom, so yes...even when wearing a condom you are still prone to recieving aids/other std's.

Be careful who you f**k.

You mean HIV, not AIDs....just to clarify.

With the explosion of STDs

I wonder if the overall amount of stds in the community is really exploding. what's the evidence for this? some stds, like syphilis, are reduced in the community due to antibiotics (relative to say 100 years ago).

Because everyone and their dog has freakin' herpes nowadays. Boy I loved those awkward "do you have herpes/other STD" pre-sex conversations back before my current steady, STD-free girlfriend.

So it's enough that you know you did everything possible? Weak argument.

Anyway, getting tested even doesn't guarantee anything as you have the 3 month window period where tests show up as a negative, as mentioned in the original post.

🙁
