Go to a barber shop and ask for a short cut. I had long hair and one day decided to get it cut so I would look more "normal" for work. The guy did a great job cutting it. I had about 12"-14" taken off the back.

I can't think of any way...

My hair has never been a problem... I have them use a #4 razor on the top, #3 of the sides. Short, easy to maintain, never a problem in the office.

Don't you wish you were black?

lol...

NO

QFT

and I don't see a single black woman who doesn't have her hair straightened or wear a wig in nyc these days. must be really annoying to take care of it.

Would shaving your head look unprofessional? My hair is thinning out out top and it seems that one day my choice will be either shave it or have a nice round bald spot on top. Personally I would rather shave it but not if it's going to be viewed as unprofessional.

I tend to get a 0 to 1 on the back and sides of my head and a 2 or 3 on top, basically a crew cut. This way, no gel is necessary, you can jump out of the shower and your hair is already dry, and it is easy to take care of. So you save money on gel, shampoo, water and you don't have to cut your hair for a while. Enjoy!!!

QFT.

I get a 1 on the sides and back and 2 on the top.

Dont shampoo your hair... it will keep it slightly oily and wont need gel, and its not nasty, just rinse it out with water

or you could go with a military haircut

I cut mine to .5 - 1" on top and have to use pomade to style it. Nice thing is with the pomade I only use a half pinky-nail size amount and that is enough for my entire head, and I have VERY thick hair. This does not come across as a "gelled" look and works great for me as engineering management. I have to wear a suit 4 days a week so nice hair is a must.

ditto...I have the thickest hair every barber i've ever had has seen...I use pomade, and one little tin of LA looks lasts me like 7 months

.5" is VERY short, for me my hair would stick up straight that short, it depends on the way your hair grows

its actually pretty long...

but it sure as hell isnt professional

go to a stylist. I have long hair, and it looks pretty professional, kinda john travolta ish (think pulp fiction)

all you need is to wash it every other day, and get it layered by a decent stylist every month or so.

Most professionals just shave it.
