Instead of starting a new topic, I'll ask it here for them. Whats a good easily accepted/secured credit card to suggest for someone who has minimal credit that could use some repair?

Most secured Visas will be given on the spot as long as you're putting down some type of collaterol.

Look up the word "quick."

Look up the word "history."

Pause and reflect.
Exactly.

Just apply to every damned credit card there is.
Some one will give your young broke ass a low credit line with a sh1tty high apr.

Use it regularaly and immediatly pay it off. Don't carry a balance and don't miss payments.

Actually this is bad, don't listen to him. Do not apply to every single offer you come across. This will only diminish your chance of getting a credit card.

Try going through www.studentcreditcard.com -- if you're a student.

If you're a student, Discover card. I don't know of a single person IRL that has been turned down for one, total credit newbies or not. If you're not, then I don't know.

Discover turned me down due to "not enough credit history." I find that bizarre considering I have three VISAs, an Amex, a Car loan, and A mortgage.

Yes, but are there any certain ones to look at or avoid?

Do you know your credit score? It might be too low or you may have too much outstanding debt in order to qualify. (Can't believe I just said that)

Check out:

CreditNet

There's a thread there, probably a few pages back...about 290 posts long...about places that offer credit cards to the recently bankrupt or bad credit.
I can't find the thread. I'm interested in checking it out.. I went all the way to page 25. 😛

Thanks guys. The only bank in Canada that has secured credit cards is Home Trust. Sending in the paperwork later today.

Something unique I heard about is get a gas credit card from BP, Shell, or whoever. They have a $100-$500 credit limit, and buy your gas with it. Pay it off every month, and after a year or so, POOF! You have good credit!
