How big of power supply do I really *need*?

Will be running a high-Celeron setup, one HD, CD-RW and a Voodoo5-5500. Would a 235w supply be okay?

It should be enough but I think the V5 uses a lot of power so im not exactly sure, lets see what others have to say.

Go for 300w to be sure. It's not going to be big different in price. I just upgrade my brother's new case with 250w to 300w for $5 extra.

a little more won't hurt,... you'll only be using what your computer draws anyway, so the 300W won't be upping your power bill or anything, it'll just ensure performance and leave room for upgrades...

A decent 235watt supply will be fine, just make sure that your mobo can handle the power requirements for the Voodoo, some AGP slots are limited.

If you already have it keep it. I'm usin a 250 for a 800 T-bird oc to 946, cd rom, cd burner, 7200 HD, sound card, vid card, network card, scsi controller card. So you should be fine

i have outgrown my 300 W.

and have a 145 AT attached to my main computer.

for the other one, using a 235W: CDRW, c466, 16 MB of RAM because of problem, an old 6.4 GB 5400rpm IDE, a DVD-ROM, and stuff....

Super replies, guys. Thanks.
I asked because I saw a good (nay, GREAT) deal of a DESKTOP case in Hotdeals. I'll be happy to get rid of this tower on the floor and have a nice setup on the desk again.
I guess us ol' timers remember out XT's too fondly. 🙂 (In my case, the Tandy 1000... What can I say, I LIKE desktop cases!)
It just happened to come with a 235w supply though... I'll try it out- if it doesn't work, I can upgrade PS alone. Heck, I could swap it with my existing one. (I never even checked once for its output! Most likely 250w...)

Again, thanks. Ananders are a good bunch, for the most part. 🙂
