Stupid site. Doesn't necessarily prove you know, you may have no idea what it means.

And I'm pretty sure the ones I didn't get aren't even words. 😉

364, but I only clicked the words in which I knew the meaning. I realized after I did the test that you just have to have seen the word before.

That's a shame. You're missing out on a big part of being human.

No, only words you know the meaning of. I'd have gotten higher if I'd clicked all the words I've seen before.

it seemed a little weighted towards certain types of words in each category - it makes me feel like it's going to end up wtih a bias.. 424 - thought I'd do better 🙂

Well, I certainly don't feel that way so I'd have to take your word for it. I just don't get enough enjoyment out of reading novels to justify the time spent. And I'm not "artsy" enough to be able to appreciate poetry.

I do read quite a bit of non-fiction, but non-fiction generally doesn't aim to use as wide of a vocabulary. So I'm extremely impressed by DrPizza who says he got in the 500s with a non-fiction reading background. Perhaps he studied Latin?

/Still not too embarassed about his 339 🙂

394.. I also made the mistake of only clicking when I knew the meaning. I don't think it would've made more than a 25 point difference though.

Well this shows my level.....what exactly am I supposed to do? There's a bunch of words with checkmarks. Is there like a questionairre or something somewhere that isn't showing up?
Or it this just an honesty thing with no real key, like "Yeah sure, I know what that means", check it off, and in fact be totally wrong?

Well, assuming it is an honesty thing, just "check whatever you can define", I got 333. Aced high school (not that you actually have to really learn anything to do that), and I'm in my 3rd year of college.

In reviewing the results of the poll, I'm afraid I'm going to have to call BS. There is simply no way that such a high percentage of the members of this board could score over 500 if they honestly selected only words they actually knew the definitions for. I don't buy it.

agreed

looking back over that test i'm going to call bs on most the 400+ members here. seems as though people checked words they've merely seen not words they actually know the meaning of.

Unlike some of my other attributes, my vocabulary is QUITE LARGE.

OK..I took the test.

380

But I think it's broken it said I got 0 in section 1 and I know I got ALL od them. 😕

Me too. If I couldn't use the word in a sentence, I didn't check it.

Wow, that made me feel stupid. I only checked ones I knew the defintion of not ones I had 'seen before'. I got a 430. when I was a kid I used to read encyclopedias when I got bored. (before the gameboy was invented lol)
