Just bought a 65" Sony a few weeks ago for $400.- Best buy floor model. Couldn't pass it up. Added a 5 year total coverage for like $30.-. The best part is if it ever shits the bed they have to come fix it or pick it up.

In a 22x15 foot den it's just awesomeness.

65"... I've had that size for a while and felt it was too large at first... but I got used to it. Now I will get probably 85" when they come down in price.

I also have a projector but not sure of the size I have it on now. Probably a 7'-8' horizontal 16:9 so whatever that comes out to.

Is that purchase a factor of happening to be there at the right time? I don't imagine there is a schedule of any kind for clearing out floor models.

I've been using an LG 42LD450 LCD TV that I got back in late 2010. I could actually see downsizing a little if I had to replace it just because my viewing distance is pretty small.

My current favorite are approx 2.5" screens in VR that fill the FOV completely so equivalent to maybe 120"-150" curved screens.

I have a 75" Samsung 1080p LED in the living room and a 55" Vizio 1080p IPS in my bedroom.

Just need to get my head around OLED and HDR technologies. I saw a display LG OLED 4k (not sure on size, but around 65" I guess) and can't say I was blown away. Not sure if it was the premier model.

^ yeah the 4K tv and content I've been watching, though not real HDR on the Samsung, has not blown me away. Yes, it's clear, but it's not "WOW this is not actually real?"

Still better than the 57" 1080i we bought 16 years ago.

70" Sony and a 32" Sony in the bedroom... Both are about 4-5 years old...

I upgraded to Sony VPLHW45ES about a month ago.
The thing is awesomely awesome. By far the best projector and best 1080p display I have ever owned.

Since the room it's in is only 10 feet wide, and there is a soffit for the HVAC, I am limmited to 106 inch screen size (about 8 feet wide.)

It looks magnificent.

The tv interface is still clunky though, takes too long to navigate around. I like that I can cast any of that from my smartphone to the tv... surprised that Samsung supports this like a chromecast.

I should've clarified I came from a 1080p 42" to the 4k 55" (and my PC monitor is 27" not 22"; what was I smoking yesterday).

Regarding the navigation, yes it is kind of clunky but limited to a remote with a few buttons I'm not sure how good it could be done. I find it isn't very bad in my daily usage but searching YouTube fucking blows, lol, and when I had reset the Smart Hub to fix an issue where the apps wouldn't launch, typing in a 40 character password for my account isn't fun with that remote and a virtual keyboard.

All of the current LG OLED panels are the same. Premier models just have a sound bar and they are placed on glass compared to the cheaper models.

You can tell the difference when you play UHD Blu Rays

32" LCD, we don't watch too much due to the outdoors being vastly superior

My son works there so he alerted me. If there is a schedule he isn't aware of it. Periodically the inventory manager pulls the display models and marks them down. My guess is that it's a 2016 model getting replaced by 2017 but that would just be a guess.

Have you looked into using spandex? I'm considering it for my acoustically transparent HT screen but there are some pros and cons some of which may depend on your projector and I haven't decided on one yet

http://www.avsforum.com/forum/110-diy-screen-section/

I pulled the trigger on a 120" Silver Ticket woven from Amazon. It was a warehouse one in "Excellent shape" for $330. That was less than a brand new 110" one. It's probably pushing the boundaries of comfort @ 12' seating distance...but go big or go home, right?

:D

I did consider Spandex, but by the time I bought the material, built the frame, bought crushed felt and lined the outside of the border, ect...it was just worth it to buy for the $$.

120" projector in the basement.
65" plasma in the living room
50" LCD in the bedroom

The plasma was actually the TV I picked out after arduous searching a few years ago, and I didn't intend to replace it - but when I moved a couple of months ago, the new house came with the projector installed in the media room. What am I going to do, say no? So all of the other rooms got upgraded, media room TV became living room, living room, became bedroom, etc.

I have a 55", but am size-restricted to here I want the TV to be. Might be able to squeeze a 60" if I had to, but not really a need:

Didn't think a projector would be that common, but quite a lot of peeps here seem to have one.

No, but srsly, I have an old ass 37"... I think it's even plasma. I just haven't felt the need to upgrade, especially since I cut the cord quite a while ago.
