More than anybody here so far, but it probably wouldn't be too bright to post my FTP here.

Just wait until I have my 120GB WD drive (this afternoon)... oooh, boy. I'm shooting for a good 25k songs before I have to start looking for a 200 or 300GB solution.

I already have a 360GB fault tolerant solution in place. :)

Currently, 900M. Over the past few years, probably around 15G. I don't keep the stuff I don't listen to. Most of the stuff gets deleted after about 2-3 months.

About 20GB of old stuff, and probably close to 75-100 CD's and growing. Like 0roo0roo though, trying to allocate some funds over to DVD's.

Approx 300 CD's all ripped to MP3. MP3 collection is 21 GB.
37 liveset mixes by DJ in mp3 format, totalling 4.64 GB.

Approaching 2500 rap cds. I tried to load them into Winamp, but it keeps on crashing:eek:

I can create a file listing, but the music is spread across 3 drives:eek:

I used to have ~22k mp3's until I tried to overclock and fried the motor in my hd. So I get to start fresh. :)

I'm up to 8k in about 2 weeks worth of downloading. I had 250+ cd's that were stolen....now all i have are the crappy one's I took out of my car because I didn't like them. :(

I honestly have no idea. My jukebox rig is currently at about 6,000 files and I've only ripped about 1/4 of my CD's thus far (though there are certainly plenty of downloaded files on that hard drive). I also have a humongous stack of vinyl.....maybe 200 albums or so.

1990 mp3's, 10GB or so. I feel sorry for those who have made people like the RIAA thousands of dollars richer, buying hundreds of cd's.

nice list, whats RIAA's anti piracy number?

:p;)

I own all of them legally. Really, I do. :p

Besides, if it comes down to it... select, delete, low level format.

That isn't going to help you when the FBI comes busting in, grabs you and takes your computer. If you do start a format, they can unplug the computer and still have 99% of the evidence. It's happened to a few people here, although it was for serving apps/games on irc.

I think most people are pretty safe unless they're the big "dealers". Rosen made it pretty clear in the last issue of Wired that they're after the big uploaders, not the downloaders.

I lost count of how many purchased CDs somewhere around 1,200 (started buying in '86).

I've started ripping to lossless FLAC, I've done about 150 so far. I need to buy a couple of 200 GB drives before I finish the job.

It's too bad almost nobody sells the 250 GB maxtor drives -- CDW's prices are not great.

Wouldn't a LAN party for people with lots of mp3's... quality rips... be a great idea? Everyone go out and buy 3 or 4 200GB hard drives and we'll all have a LAN party :D

Then again, how long does it take to transfer 400GB of files?

I think most people are pretty safe unless they're the big "dealers". Rosen made it pretty clear in the last issue of Wired that they're after the big uploaders, not the downloaders.

Just like in the Software Piracy scene, they have taken the 'top-down' approach. They are going after the hosts, the major group members (that released pirated music/software), and the courriers that transfer the files in between servers. If they can actually get to some of the major groups, this will be effective. Their last major raid, in which they hit probably the most famous software group, razor1911, took out two or three razor members, but by no means the group. It took a few months for the scene to recover, but now it's back up at full steam.

I doubt they will come after individuals, there are just too many. If anything, they may attempt to take out file sharing services, but, if I were them, I would stick with this 'top-down' stuff. The groups aren't extremely difficult to penetrate, and the servers are even easier. But, as I said, I don't expect the feds to come knocking on anyone's door here.

If they do though, I have a few huge magnets ready :p

This has been known to happen here in town occasionally. :D
