How big is 10lb of muscle?

If I wanted to add an additional of 10lb of muscle to my body, how much larger would I look, assuming I was working my whole body and not just arms/chest?

Would it even be noticeable? How much would you need to add to look noticeably larger?

Yea, very noticeable. Once you start getting in shape you will not just start to look different, you'll feel a lot different. And that kind of stuff shows in your posture and stuff like that. But after a while the image of you getting bigger kinda disappears and so you keep working out, and that why most guys get huge cuz they don't see how big they get or they don't think its enough. But just start working out, its good for you.

Your first 10 pounds of muscle will be most noticable, after that, less noticable.

Actual "size" of muscle mass for 10 pounds of muscle depends on its density. Muscle density depends on your genes, as well as the type of workouts you do.

I've known guys who lift to "look" big, but weigh less than guys who "look" smaller, because of difference in density.

5'9, 170lbs, 15% body fat.

I have a pretty large frame, but not a lot of definition.

Edit: I'm not really fat, even though 170 sounds like a lot.

10 lbs. will look good, depending on a few things.

At 5'9, 170 lbs, you shouldn't just be 15%... unless you have good definition somewhere on your body already. Was this caliper or an actual test? If it is the latter, I suggest cardio to lose about 5% body fat. That would look good if you are going for look.

Work on the other parts of your body a litte. Try to do some cardio to build definition, and a lot of sets. But 10 lbs. of muscle will make you look swoll if you are actually 15%.

It was a water / caliper / electro-resistance test. 3 tests and all came pretty close. 145 lean + bones / 25 fat = 170 lbs

You are in good shape, then. Up your cardio to get to 10% because you already are in good shape. But 10 lbs will look good if you do this in conjunction with the cardio.

watch spiderman w/ tobey maguire. his before and after in the mirror is about 10lbs of lean muscle.
