I take many digital photos, and I want to keep a copy of them all without risking loss. I use photoshop and do a lot of image processing on my laptop. DVDs can get scratched, and they are too slow for me. It seems that a RAID setup would be best. Could someone suggest specifics on how to best do this? Cost matters, and a TB wouldn't be too much.

IMO DVD's are the best cost effective way to archive photos.
Even RAID 1 still depends on mechanical HDs.
"Cost matters", and you're asking about a RELIABLE RAID setup?
Don't use DVD's as coasters for your drinks and they won't get scratched up. :p
