I test drove an 01 camaro with very low miles (15k) it was a nice V6 Auto, T-top, i can prolly get a descent deal on it, but some people are tellin me its gonna be terrible in the snow, what do u guys think? i have a pretty long drive from work and to school on small suburb roads, and this will be my daily driver so i need somethin reliable and wont get stuck in the snow.

They are horrendous unless you mount very good snow tires and fill the trunk with about 250 lbs of dead weight.

How many inches of snow will you have to drive through? It will be alright in the snow if you know how to drive but a challenge at times. My 81 camaro sucked in the snow.

you should be fine with 4 snow tires and weight in the back.

I drive most of the winter in Syracuse (12+ ft of snow per winter) in 2wd with my truck. When we get a few feet of the white stuff, I throw her in 4wd.

Indeed. I drove my V8 Firebird in high school in the snow. On the plus side, I now know how to handle skids really, really well. ;)

I drove my v8 firebird in the snow a few times. It's not too bad, just have to take it easy and be careful. The only real problem is the back end getting away from you and spinning out, and this has only happened to me when accelerating from a start and usually while taking a turn. You have to accelerate like a grandma in the snow. It's worth it though, great car. :)

i can attest to this, they are pretty crappy. I live in ohio and when it snows it is impossible to drive this thing. for the rain its not that bad as long as you have good tires.

used to drive my old V6 2.8L 87 camaro all the time here in Mass, that thing was a blast, gotta be careful not to get stuck though....never ended up getting snow tires for it nor dead weight in the back, just tried to be careful most of the time.......

Had a V8 mustang though and that thing couldn't even deal with a light dusting without fishtailing...fun car but not a year rounder, the 17" low pro tires didn't help much either.

I had a 94 Z28 that I drove a couple of times in the snow here in TN. It sucked bad. I think if it had the Eagle RSA's (or whatever they are called) it would have been better, but the GSC's and the 6 speed made it nearly impossible to drive in the snow.

Meh, what do you TN guys know about driving in the snow anyway. ;)

I drive a 92 Crown Vic in the snow. Its my winter beater, and it gets through the snow better than a lot of vehicles I see on the roads, here in WI. I use all seasons, and if its snowy or icy at a stop, you just have to accellerate like the typical Crown Vic driver.

I have to agree, sounds like a lot of people here just can't drive :)

My El Camino is a blast in the WI snow. If this beast with all the cons of a truck, combined with all the cons of a car can handle winter, just about anything can. Just need to learn how to handle all the different situations you can find yourself in.

You'll be ok. Just accelerate slowly and don't take turns fast or while accelerating. Do you have the "Sport Package" or whatever they call it? I know on the Firebirds, that adds a limit slip diff which will help a lot. Congrats on the car and don't fvck it up!

my 4wd in 2wd mode (rwd) is horrendous in snow... and it's already heavy in the back. Good luck with that.
