how bad will i get screwed buying a video card from bestbuy

uh time travel.

I bought my current card from Best Buy. It was cheaper than anywhere online, and a good card at the time. (well, it's still pretty good. HD4850.)

any of the lowend /midrange cards, be prepared to pay at least 250% of what you can get them for online

a geforce 8200 would cost you ~40 on newegg would be $120 at BB. 8800GT would be around $299 ( just a rule of thumb)

but sometimes they do have sales.

Just walking in, you'll most likely get raped. I've gotten a couple of good cards, at good prices. Look for the sales.

any of the recent instances where a subsequent post gets placed atop a post it was actually after, the clock times were the same, i noticed the username of the misplaced post was after the displacing post's username, alphabetically.

this. watch the AT hot deals forum, that's where I found out about the card I ended up buying.

Only bought two gfx cards from bestbuy in my life, the first was a voodoo 3 back when you could still get a good deal at a B&M store and the other was a ATi 4850 when I had a gift card to offset the "I want it now!" tax.

Just look on bestbuy.com vs. newegg.com, if the price is close enough and you don't mind paying extra to get it today then go for it.

It's all overpriced mid to low range sh!t. There was a time when they sold good PC components at a fair price. That was over 10 years ago.

Its all overpriced? HAH sometimes its well within market or below.

I got my 8800GT when it debut'd for $240 CDN when most people were happy with $300USD deals

Of course the price dropped like crazy in the next 4 months... but I got a great deal for the time

i remember seeing some ti200's and etc on clearance for very cheap($79 bucks)
i just want something like a 4850/70 and kinda want it today.
so i guess how bad i'll be screwed is how bad im willing to be right?

That's one of the exceptions. I got my 8800GT the same way. The other card I got was a 6800nu. I don't remember the particulars, but the price was good at the time. I never needlessly spend money if I can help it.

I got a good deal on a Radeon 4870. Every now and again you'll get a decent price, never the best, but if you need a part sometimes you are willing to eat a few bucks to have it now.

I got my 4850 the day before they released for 150 bucks.... the card is still selling for around tthat much 😛

I got my current card from BestBuy. A 7900GS for $45 back when it was a mid-range card going for $200+ most places. Their everyday prices suck seeds, but if you get lucky and find a closeout you can get a really good deal.

BB happened to have a 25% off sale on all visiontech cards that ended the day before the 4850 came out, they had shelved them already and I snagged one for 200 - 25%
