How bad is smelling marijuana?

My roommate smokes marijuana everyday in his room. Although he does keep his door closed when he does it, I can still smell the odor from outside his room and it's not exactly the most pleasant smell. Anyways, so I got to wondering about a few things:

1. Can smelling marijuana from outside his room be a hazard to my health? Is there such a thing as second-hand marijuana just like there is second-hand smoke?
2. Can I get high from the smell of marijuana?

From what I have read on the internet, marijuana boosts your intelligence, makes you more focused, allows you to see the world in fuzzy colors, increases your sex drive, and gets you a better car. There are absolutely no side-effects and anyone who tells you differently is smoking something.

1. The "smell" of it will do nothing to you.

2. No luck, you're better off just smoking da ganj with him.

Actually I like the way it smells a lot more then tobacco myself.

Second-hand smoke of any kind can't be good for you, but smoking weed produces a much lower overall volume of smoke the cigerettes for example, so I doubt it will do you much harm, further unless you are in a room with people smoking heavily for several hours you won't be getting a contact-high, HOWEVER note that far lower amounts then required to get you stoned can potentially cause you to fail a drug test.

2. no... that's the same question as the first part of your first question.

Actually yeah, just a breath of second-hand mj smoke will cause you to fail a DT within the next couple days.

Cannabulites FTL... your body will process the 2nd hand smoke and on a drug test it could show up in trace amounts. Nothing to fret over though. Your body is resilient enough that nothing long term will happen and you really can't get high off of trace amount that I know of. Not that I know much, but I do work for CJ and I work in a department that deals directly with the structure of testing with this, but that is all I will say.

**EDIT**
Also, judging from the fact that you aren't even in the same room. Unless your roommate makes the whole apartment smokey, I doubt it will affect you at all.

People are always dealing with annoying roommates, don't put up with that kind of shite. You're risking a lot just by having him in your living quarters.

a few more days and 1/3rd of your brain cells will wither, your emotional feelings will be gone, and you will drift your car into a pack of innocent youth while dozing through a drive-through

Wuss.. Instead of being a total square, join the guy - maybe you'll stop being so paranoid. Actually, some chicks I know get paranoid when they smoke up - you might want to be careful.

Seriously, my cat get's contact highs sometimes but that.. Umm.. If people blow smoke directly into his face. It's kinda fun too watch.

And, with second hand smoke, it's not the smell that's bad, it's the smoke. Ya know. If you're a real prude then ask your roommate to get a window fan with an exhaust thingy. I have one just because I don't want my roommates to be inconvenienced, not because they asked me to or because they're wusses.
