How bad is it to run PCI at 37.5 and 41.6mhz???

I have a cel 566 running at 637 so my pci bus is running at 37.5mhz. It's been up for 24hrs now with various loads and everything is running perfect so far. I want to try going faster but I have doubts I'll be able to make it to 850mhz cause there is no voltage increase option on my mobo. Unless I can do it with software but i havn't tried yet(my mobo uses dip switches so i doubt i can use software even...?). Anyway what's everyones experiences or what have ya heard about runnin the pci at 37.5 and 41.6mhz??? Will it slowly kill any of my peripherials?

I have great cooling for my pro and case. Current pro temp is 39 degrees celsius and case is 32.

Here's what I have more exactly:

Gigabyte GA-6VXC7-4X (VIA 694X)
Celeron2 566 O/C'd to 637 currently
Geforce 2 MX200(AGP)
Tekram DC-390U2B SCSI controller
Seagate barracuda 18.2 gig u2w hdd. I forget which model exactly
IBM 30gig 7200rpm hdd
D-Link 10MB ethernet
Creative SB AWE32 ISA

depends on your system config...

my old 1G@1125 (150 MHz FSB) keeps killing my PCI peripherals at least once in 2 years...
but since i've been using cheap PCI peripherals ..my 3com net card had no probs at all even at higher FSB....

if u want to oc you gotta do a lot of asking, reading, n a bit of trial n error...
good luck o/c ing your system...
may the force be with you n your PCI cards

I ran a 566 Celeron @ 83Mhz (705) and it all went sweet, some cards / drives can handle it, others can`t -

4Gb Fuji HDD, TEAC 532 CDROM, PCI Banshee with a big HS/Fan on, Realtek 8139B LAN (NOT the A model, it falls over) all took it in their stride..

The board (a Soltek ZX AT board) ended up in a Celly 400 machine @450 (75Mhz) because I felt that 2V was a little too much for the 1.7V CPU and I`m hoping to get 850 @ 1.8 or 1.85V in an Asus board @ 100Mhz

There is a vid pin trick for the FCPGA to get 1.9v. Do that and enjoy 850MHz with everything at spec.

think maybe you could point me to a link or something on this mod. I swear I looked around for one and could only find P4 mods.

I have only seen the Vcore mods for tualatins and those to fit them on a Slotket or Asus CUSL2.. I looked hard to find it when my only option was a cheap VIA Jetway with no Voltage adjustment :(

For the record I have the 1.7V SL4PC 566 running stable at 850 @ 1.8V on the CUSL2 using a Celeron 1200 retail heatsink / AS3, it doesn`t seem to need to go any higher voltage wise..

When I was messing around with a vid pin mod for a Tualatin to go from 1.475v to 1.675v, I thought of the idea for a regular FCPGA cpu for a motherboard without voltage adjustments. I had to go the the Intel Data sheets info and figure it out. Anyhow by connecting VID 2 to VID 3 the default voltage for any Coppermine P3 or Celeron will be 1.90v. The trick was to look at the charts to find the value of each voltage pin, and then determine if it was open or connected to the vss pin. Then find one that is open directly next to one that is connected to give you a value that will work. There were other possibilities but that required three pins or two pins that were not adjacent.

awesome, thx for the info guys. Not sure if I'm gonna attempt this mod at the moment as I'm too lazy to even open my case right now but I'm sure later tonight I'll start being bored outta my mind and just might do it :) When I do I'll let ya know how it goes. Oh, maybe I'll get my buddies digcam and take some shots too. Then again this might only be exciting to me lol
