A Calzone is pretty much defined by the presence of Ricotta cheese. Without the Ricotta, its An EFFING STROMBOLI!!!
I guess P-Hut is going on my list of things never to buy along with Mentos and 1010220... >>
I always thought the difference between a Stromboli and Calzone was just in the shape, not its ingredients. In fact, this is what the
Food Network has to say about it (thanks for the link So):
stromboli
Definition: [strahm-BOH-lee] A specialty of Philadelphia, a stromboli is a calzonelike enclosed sandwich of cheese (
usually mozzarella) and pepperoni (or other meat) wrapped in pizza dough.
calzone
Definition: [kal-ZOH-nay; kahl-SOH-neh] Originating in Naples, calzone is a stuffed pizza that resembles a large turnover. It is usually made as an individual serving. The fillings can be various meats, vegetables or cheese;
mozzarella is the cheese used most frequently. Calzones can be deep-fried or brushed with olive oil and baked.
P'zone
Now tell me which one the P'zone resembles more.
