Personally I have a sgs3, I convinced my job that their supplied Droid Razr sucked ass and they agreed to let me get an iphone 5 (should be here tomorrow) and sell off the razr. I only opted for the 5 for the headphones and battery life. So, how are the new buds?

I wouldnt expect them to be anything fantastic. Once you get the earbuds let us know how they sound!

i've heard them...comparing them to my Klipsch S4's isn't fair. I didn't like them but again, I'm bias.

Phone just came in. They are a huge improvment over the other iphone ones but still not a decent replacement for others I use. There is still a lot of sound leakage. I also see what others said about scratchgate. Came with 3 small blemishes. Oh well, its supplied by my job.

Are yours on the sides where the antenna break is? Or on the back?

I think the headphones are a decent improvement, but I use a A2DP Bluetooth headset for listening to music or anything (except on a plane, I have a noise cancelling set for that) so I never really use the included buds to begin with. But compared to the old headphones...

One on each side, not near any seam, and on each screw.

Get a Klipsch X5 or X10 and be happy. Don't use that crap and abuse your ears.

The abuse would be to my wallet, haha.

It's just not important enough for me to spend > 30 on a pair of headphones. I did spend like $110 on my noise cancelling set for air travel though.

Pretty much what I've heard. They're better, but still not as good as anything else you can buy. I've honestly found several cheap $2-$5 sets that are much more comfortable than the old ones that they used to ship. Maybe they just don't fit well with my ears, but I'd swear those things feel like something that might have been used during the Spanish Inquisition.

Well, its all moot anyway. I have been using them with my SGS3 for a couple of days and they were somewhat ok, then I received a call on my sgs3 and when the call disconnected and the music started again but the sound was coming through the phone and not the earbuds. I had to pull the buds and reconnect. So, I guess these only work 100% on iphones. Bummer as i was getting used to them.

The old apple buds would cause ear pain after about 60 seconds of use.

The new apple buds cause ear pain immidiately. I don't understand how anyone can stand to use them. Maybe I have totally weird non-standard shaped ears or something.

Nah, the pain in your ears is a feature. Earphone quality and comfort will only become important when/if Apple "invents" quality earphones sometime in the future.
