How are the Forgotten Realms books?

Started one today by R.A. Salvatore. It's called Homeland. So far it's a decent book. There was a comment in preface about this series originally started by the original author and how he wants to be surprised in books and games. What games are based on this?

There aren't really any computer/video games based specifically on R.A. Salvatores books (besides your pen and paper games). A lot of games take place in the Forgotten Realms, but unless you get into pen and paper games, you really don't spoil anything.

The Planescape setting isn't too bad either.

Ok honestly, I've never touched any d&d books. The icewind dale games were kind of bland. The books could be great, I don't know. I just know that Torment is one of the best games I've ever played. The end. 🙂

I'm gonna get the fanboyism out of my system right now.

I LOVE RA SALVATORE AND I LOVE DRIZZT AND HELL YEAH GO WULFGAR, BRUENOR, CATTIE BRIE AND FRIENDS OMG

TWIN SCIMITARS PWNZ0RS J00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SHift-1

Anyways, Homeland is the book that begins an extremely entertaining series of books (like 8,9, 10 books or so).

Go Drizzt Do'Urden

You really ought to read the DragonLance series by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman if you haven't already. They are my favorite fantasy books by far.

Dragon Lance is far better than FR, in my opinion. the characters of FR are not realistic enough for me.

all of the D&D books are not horrible. I wouldn't rank them up there with any kind of great literature, but they're pretty good if you're looking for a quick read that won't challenge you very much.

ive read every drizzt book, salvatore is the man, but alot of the later books in the series recap too much. he also wrote for star wars i believe, I would love to see a drizzt game, balder's gate has a dark elf race but nothing like drizzt. dual scimitars ownz!!!

does anyone know if the last book in hunter's blades has been released yet?

The Two Swords has been released in hardcover. A good read, but I expected a little more from Salvatore.

Have you read the series A Song Of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin? If not, stop what you're doing and pick up the first 3 books now. Who knows when the fourth one will be released though.

the old school RPG AD&D Gold Box series of Pool of Radiance, Curze of The Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades and Pool of Darkness are set in the Forgotten Realms world.
