I want to buy an awesome laptop for gaming, I don't care about battery life, I just dont want to have to move my desktop around all the time for gaming. In fact I never want to move my computer again. Are sager's a good choice? They look quite titillating. Anyone got some laptop tips? not really my area.

Yes the newer Sager's are a great product. Many manufactures (like Alienware and other big names) use them.

Check out the Clevo section (Same as Sager) at rjtech.com and look at the barebones. For under $1400 you can get a 17'' with an Nvidia 280M GTX 1Gb card - roughly comparable to two 8800M GTX's in SLI.

Sager is good but (this is old info) their customer service was never very good. People who buy Sager usually go through a third party vendor like PCTorque or other companies so they get the better customer service in case any problems are encountered. If you want a Sager look into the customer service side of things. You may want to go through a third party vendor instead of Sager direct.

That's not really true. The 280M is the same as a 9800M GTX, which is basicly the same as the 8800M GTX with some minor core improvements. They're essentially the same chip.

I bought my Sager 5720 through PC Torque back in 2005, no problems with it. Its Dothan 2.13Ghz and 7800GTX held up very well until the second half of 2008, when its GPU was eclipsed by newer models.

I'm looking at an NP8662 to replace it, but I don't know if I can justify the cost these days. Plus, I think I'd rather have a 13 or 14in laptop, just need to find one with a decent GPU.

It is true. Take a look at the benchmarks. We had this discussion in another thread.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/M...chmark-List.844.0.html

GeForce GTX 280M
3DMark01 = 40754
3DMark03 = 36865
3DMark05 = 18082
3DMark06 = 11767

GeForce 8800M GTX SLI
3DMark01 = 33318
3DMark03 = 46802
3DMark05 = 16942
3DMark06 = 11745

Note that the 280M is a 55nm chip and should run cooler and require lower power consumption/better battery life vs. (2) 65nm 8800M chips.
