How are only 50 marines going to secure the US Embassy in Haiti?

I mean the rebels are destroying entire cities. Doesn't only 50 marines seem like a low number given the number of rebels? With 110K troops in Iraq I would assume that the difference between 50 and 200 wouldn't impact our forces all that much given the cost of the embassy and all US Gov't property in Haiti. Especially if they start getting overrun, I wouldn't want to see dead marines on TV 🙁

50 Marines + 12 already there. It is doubtful that anyone will actually attack the embassy, the rebels aren't coming after us, but rather Arisitide.

About 50 people have been killed since the beginning of the rebellion, which was in early February. I don't think they're destroying entire cities.

I think this is what they always do in war-torn countries where the war doesn't actually involve us.

I doubt they'll be in any danger.

That poor country. I don't know how much more messed up it could possibly be.

If things get really bad, a helicopter (or helicopters) from a U.S. amphibious assault ship will arrive to pick everyone up from the embassy.

I'm sure some of them are snipers. We've got some of the best sharpshooters in the world in our armed forces...and it's amazing what one well placed bullet can do to an attacker's morale.

Heh. I guess it would reduce it to 0, since the attacker would be dead!

Simply. due to union rules the Marines must send a minimum of 50 soldiers even if, as in this case, 1 is needed.

you know why??
cuz haiti doesnt have oil or anything we have of intrest
there are alot of places in the carribian already for vacation we dont need haiti to be another one

Simply, you must have been studying your lower intestinal tract up close and personal to come up with that post!

I think those 50 marines will have as much air support from the mainland they want if they get in the Sh!t, but they wont need it. I mean Come on the Haitians cant even build working rafts.

because the rebels numbers are estimated between 200-300

This deserves quoting because so many of you are ignoring it. The news reports today said right around 250 rebels.

You know, it could be. Just had to make sure if you were being serious or not. Can never be to sure on this forum.

Guess I'll go re-adjust my sarcams detector now 😛
