How is this monitor: NEC/MITSUBISHI MultiSync FE750+
How would it be in comparison to the Sony G220 or Samsung 700NF. It is for gaming and I want 1280x1024 at 85hz (especially for the desktop). All of these do that, I think. Any recommendations or suggestions?

i can't tell you how nec compares to sony or samsung but i'm happy with the nec fe950 and fp950 monitors.
i'm running at 2048x768 dual.

They are good monitors, but I think I would still rather pay the extra for the Samsung or Sony (Samsung preferably) if they weren't that much more.

I had overall mediocre results with my Samsung 955SL (discolouration, broken pixels). Mine may be an isolated case though. Very happy with the NEC LC1700v.

I have a NEC FE 950+ and it is great, as far as the Smasung I'd pass. You can get a great deal on a NEC and when I compared the two, the NEC seemed (to me anyway) to have a much better quality.

I have a NEC FE950+ its 19"/18" viewable - its the best monitor I have ever used. I'm currently running it at 1600x1200x75hz - I wish it went up to 85hz at 1600x1200. But for image quality etc. it kicks ass! and Its about $350 depending on where you get it, I got mine at fry's or $360 and ordered online at outpost.com and pick it up at frys.

I have a NEC AS 90 (they're lowest end model) and it's a great value (picked it up for $200 last summer) and it's running great. No geometry, discoloration (was at first, but went away), or any problems. Great quality for even a low end model, but it is pretty subjective. Suggest you go to a store and look at the ones on display and see which one you like best. I'd say Samsung, Sony and NEC are all good brands.
