learn from me. i did jack sh1t in high school. i had 1560 sats and like a 4.2 weighted, my SAT 2s were like 800, 790 , 690, for like chem, math and writing. most of my teachers hated me. i applied at stanford and MIT (i actually wanted to go to MIT too). i had a big problem with teacher recommendations since i had one teacher who actually liked me. well needless to say i didnt get in to either one. MIT actually had an interview, where they ask you if you ever did anything really weird like design a topographical map of your city. i pretty much failed that, all i could say was me and my friends invented lan parties in 8th grade. hahahaha. Basically what i learned from the whole college app thing, is that if you didnt like spoon out food at a homeless kitchen like every weekend while cleaning up beach trash, or didnt research AIDs in your spare time, your grades dont mean crap at super high up there 30k a year schools. they are real expensive though, so i only thought MIT would maybe have been a good value.
Needless to say, i am a proponent of the old 75% of people get into UCLA based soley on grades and tests, because i really dont think i'd have gotten in without it.
