I've used 1-800-Flowers a few times and they've seem to deliver right on time always... I'd say I've been satisfied with their service.

How do they keep the flowers from wilting and drying up and stuff?

Diito w/ the good experience at 1800flowers.com.

But I didn't order flowers. Just a doll and a nice plant. Supposedly came well according to the friend.

in my experience (3 times) the online flower shops deliver flowers(roses) that are inferior to local shops. they are shorter and smaller with less garnish. for someone you really like, call a local shop.

Lots of these places seem to contract out to local flower shops.

fresh cut flowers usually can keep for a day or 2 before it starts to dry up.
longer if you keep them in water.

Yup, I ordered online and picked up at local shop. The shop didn't typically carry that particular arrangement.

The only beef I have for 1800Flowers is that they're kinda expensive... (then again I've never bought flowers at a local shop, so I really don't have much to compare with, but I just feel that $40 for a bouquet of roses is kinda expensive..)

Flowers are the most retarded thing on Earth, but at the same time girls love it

Vons is a good place to buy flowers because they can customize them for you so your SO won't know you got them at the supermarket.

doh, any idea how much a local shop is for a delivered item?

I'm not looking to send anything huge, maybe a half dozen roses, but I definitely want them to be nice.

Most places will likely have a 1 dozen minimum, which will run about $45-50.

I have used send-roses.net several times, with good results.

I've ordered from 1800flowers.com on several occasions, and they always come thru in fine fashion. The last bouquet of flowers I sent my GF was a huge arrangement, and as usual they get assembled/delivered by the local florist. There are always 5-10.00 off coupons floating around, so search google for them.
