we can put a man on the moon, but can't develop a cost effective non-lethal projectile firing weapon for those that want to carry for personal protection?

There are some, but whatever device you come up with, it can be abused. Reminded me of a similar thread that asked if you could have a mythical weapon that behaved like a gun, but was completely non-lethal and only incapacitated, would you carry it? Any such device would be used by perpetrators to commit crime.

Death is the ultimate deterrent.

Edit: To answer the OP's question, I work from home so I always have my gun within arms reach. :)

Firearms are not permitted in the building.

I don't know if they have any policy against having one unloaded in a locked box in your car. I have known people who have gone to the shooting range during the lunch breaks.

Texas? I am surprised they don't give out guns as part of enrollment!

The owners carry, and I know a few that do carry, or leave it in their cars.

Well, since I own my farm, I guess I can make the rules!
I have no written or unwritten policy!
(But, since it is a cattle farm, firing indiscriminately is somewhat frowned upon)

Technically I work in government buildings, so nobody is carrying that I am aware of and it would be illegal for most to do so. I certainly don't and feel no need to, though there is often one secured in my car which is legal in GA.

What about people who work places that a nut case ex-employee comes back into and shoots the place up? Happening all to damn often lately..just because you might choose to be prepared at any given time doesn't make you paranoid...

Getting fired for bringing a gun to work would get old after a while though... kind of makes it hard to provide for your family when you're unemployed.

There are several guns in the building along with about 20K rounds of ammunition in crates under one of the benches. We have discussed it and considering where the shop is located and the fact that we are out in a building in the back and that lately we have caught people snooping around when we go outside we are probably going to start open carrying. We have way too much money in equipment and customer product. We are on 2 acres of fenced private property so we can simply carry on a holster. I probably won't only because I have never felt the need to carry a gun except when I am going shooting. There are several pistols in drawers within easy reach as it is so I am not worried. The barking dog would give me more than enough time to survey the situation.

Usually when we are working on a "project" for our clients, we make sure that our "associates" are fully protected from any perceived threat. Any threat against our employees is usually quickly eliminated by use of firearms and other methods.

I've had a long gun in my truck while at work. Never in the building although i doubt anyone would say anything about it. We regualarly have police at our business(multiple times a night) so there are plenty of people around the building that open carry :)

Think building management recently revised the parking lot policy here saying you can't have one in your car. They also said no alcohol in the building.. Good luck with that one.

I work on a military base...so *of course* we can't bring firearms with us to work.

...:\

Yep same here. Can carry on duty, (MP) but cant have one in my home or even on post! I might go crazy and start killing people!...

Might be easier to kill a shitload of people with a vest, cop car, and a gun, as well as a uniform, just running along shooting people.

Army = Retarded.

thats crazy. i can understand the dorm/barracks ban but not military family housing. The air force let us keep PoW's in family housing and if you lived in the dorm you had to keep yours at the armory.
