How are bikes like this legal?

i hit about 120 on mine, but that was friggin scary with no deflectors, windshield or helmet. i cant imagine going that fast that quickly, my bike felt like it could knock me off if i really tried as it was

It is effortless, and it goes from being an incredible rush to death in about one tenth of a second. I love to twist the throttle, I love the torque and the feeling of being shot out of a canon, but that's tempered by my intense dislike of grinding off fifteen bucks worth of meat on the road.

What ever happened to freedom and independence? Buy wherever the hell you want and damn anyone who tries to make illegal whatever you're into.

Have ridden that zx10r before (I believe I rode a 06) and some other liter bikes. I actually walked away after riding one and asked myself the same question. How are these things legal? It is insane. I have an 01 zx6r ninja and its plenty fast for me. I was coming onto a freeway started to get on a 06 cbr 1000 by the time I looked down at speedo it was @147.

Gotta be a dumb ass to ride like that. Jesus, one minuscule pothole and you are dead.

At high speeds a bike is very stable. (gyroscopic effect). This also makes it very hard to turn.

You can have more fun scraping the pegs and dragging your knees on a 250cc bike @30mph on a very twisty road, than you will ever have winding out a liter bike.

Anyone can go fast in a straight line. True skill is seen in the turns.

Don't worry Sen John Danforth tried to ban "bullet" bikes a few years ago. I'm sure some horrific accident will bring calls to limit power and speed on these bikes. Already some manufacturers limit the speed to 186, lol.

For about 10-$12k you can go 0-60 in about 2.5 seconds and reach 190 mph. It's really a golden age of motorcycling that's sure not to last.

Well, except SUVs. Fuck them. 😛

Plus the passengers in the car if you hit something.

I don't mind them being legal. I can go on a rampage with pencils or butter knives, but I don't.

Never ridden a motorcycle before but was the guy in the second vid doing a wheely up to 150?

Yes, yes he was. Which is really really really insane.

He didn't even get on it until 55, and then hit 100 like a second later. That is ridiculous.

I'm glad I'm going to sit my ass on a Ninja 250, lol. I've ridden bigger (dirtbikes) but I don't want anything more (right now). I'm 17 and am fairly small, I'd kill myself on anything bigger (>400).

Yea it's fun, I've hit around 110 and that's as fast as I really want to go lol. The speed limit on that country road was 49.7 mph lol, cars look like stand still objects you just pass.

Agree.

Screw you.

chiming in as a 2007 hayabusa owner. The bike seriously is rediculous. Got a couple mods, also have the speedlimiter removed. Bike in stock form is limited to 186 and believe it or not accelerates rather hard to the limit. With the limiter overridden I have no idea how fast it goes but it is definately a good deal faster that the limiter let it do. My brother has a 2006 zx 1400, which is also a very powerful machine that is also limited to 186 from the factory. I give him shit all the time cause mine is faster. Of course it's only cause i have no limiter =)

quick pic

The problem is these bikes are so cheap anyone can buy them, so there is no barrier to entry. Sub 10 second vehicles for $99/month. Not many cars from the factory can do a sub 10 second 1/4...maybe the Veyron..on a perfect launch. From 50-100mph, I'd wager even a Veyron can't outrun a bike.

Ariel Atom 😀

I never did understand the obsession with speeding on a bike. When you hit 100 the wind noise is deafening and there's enough vibration in the clipons to rattle your fingers off.

Thing is with going fast on a bike, you don't really realize how fast you're going until your slowing back down because you get up to speed so quickly. It takes a second or two for your brain to tell you "holy shit!"

Wow. I think my sense of Self-Preservation would kick in at approx half those speeds.

I really like how the Drivers on the last Vid actually got out of his way. If that were around here, one would usually end up passing on the Right.

Agree helmet wind noise is pretty intense. Personally, I wear ear plugs for any rides over 15 minutes or so, especially if they involve the highway.

Rattling clipons? 😕
