Here in Lawton we have fireworks stands galore, selling loads of them to the populace of the city... But it IS illegal to light them within the city limits.. LMAO!

I remember the good old days of real firecrackers. We used to take an empty vegetable can and an empty Campbell soup can. Set the larger can on the ground, drop a lit firecracker in the can and drop the soup can inside the big one. Nice little explosion chamber. Used to send the soup can to the top of an old black walnut tree, about 60 feet up. Those were the days :beer:

Same thing here in Sand Springs, suburb of Tulsa, fireworks stands everywhere but illegal to use them in the city. Oh well....just finished watching the city fireworks show from my back yard. Started at 9, ended at 10. Helluva show!!! Tulsa's is tomorrow night and luckily I can see it as well. Just another advantage of living on a hill that overlooks both cities.

That would be nice Fort Sill has a great display each year, but the past few years you have to buy tickets for the all day rock/country concert they have and the fireworks are the end of the day treat for the concert. I used to take my children to see the fireworks from across the highway, but now since 9/11 they have closed all access to that part of post.

So now I have to drive to Altus to see anything or buy tickets. Or just wait for the neighbors to shoot off thier illegal fireworks! HEHEHE!

Sure, just like it was "illegal" for us to set charges bigger than 50 lbs. on post. Needless to say, range control was not pleased when at the end of the day we lit off most of the entire quarterly allotment for our batallion in one shot

LOL, nope, don't think the heavy metal guys have an equivalent to about 2500# of C4 stuffed with a few dozen blasting caps, a few hundred pin flares, detcord, and some other assorted toys coming up on their expiration dates. And if you do, i'd love to be the guy calling in that fire mission

That's kind of a raw deal man.... Where I live I have a great view of downtown Tulsa(11 miles away) from my back yard. Tulsa puts on a hell of a show every year at the main River Parks area, which is just about 2 miles South of Downtown. Sooo....I get a great view.
