How about sticking a portable air conditioner <like this one> in front of intake vent?

I'm thinking of buying something like This to stick in front of my intake vent of my pc. I found out today that by altering the airflow of my usual AC straight to the intake my idle temps dropped literally by 6-7 degrees, and more at load. (38-32c idle)

But I cannot run it all the time or the house will freeze of course, plus the cost, so I was thinking about buying a personal AC like this one and sticking it so that it basically shuttles cold air right into my pc.

A little worried about condensation but I can probably test that.

Bad idea. Condensation problems. Also, over time, the AC unit will heat up the room, and preformance will drop. Consider a vapochill or similar, if you can afford it, or a water cooling system if you can't. Or, make a water chilling system, for a combo of the two. This can be done for only slightly more cost than water cooling, if you can scrounge an old water cooler.

That is not an AC unit. It?s an evaporative cooler, and the air that comes out of it contains a great deal of moisture. Around here we call them a "swamp cooler".

Yeah that's what I was worried about. Oh well, winter is on the way and I cant see mid range water being that much better for me than high end air + in a few months an open window w/ 0c celcius outdoor temps

Throw away that P180 and assemble the PC in a minifridge.

And destroy your pc from condensation.

I thought the condensation would occur on the colder surface? Which wouldn't be any of the powered parts in a computer.

Mid range water is better than air. But what ever.

Aircons cool air is dry and the condensation drips/collects in the rear of it...over the past 7 years on and off I have tied my Puter to the floor duct of My central air with no problems...I just used cardboard to extend it and it stays cool in the Summer...I don't do it as much now as I use to when OCing was 1 key factor for me
