How About Splitting The FS/FT/WTB Forums Into Parts?!

I hope it's okay to post this in the Off Topic forum. Mod, you can move it if you feel the need. Thanks..

/me hopes mean mod isn't on duty ;)

I'd like to know what everyone thinks about the posibility of splitting the FS/FT/WTB Forums into three parts? We could have a:

1. For Sale Forum
2. For Trade Forum
3. Want To Buy Forum

When I'm looking to buy a certain item, it's often very frustrating to weed through the tons of WTB or WTT trade threads. When selling my item, I'd love the ability to quickly browse through a WTB forum to see if anyone's looking for it.

This would also help keep posts at the top longer, giving the seller/buyer/trader more exposure to their intended audience (for lack of a better word).

Good idea? Bad idea? Post your opinion!

If enough of you like the idea, maybe the administrators will add this feature! :)

EDIT: Copied from my below post..

Um, say you were posting a FS/FT thread. Your submit page might look like this:

Widgets $10 each. I accept Pal-Puke and Monopoly Money. Would like to trade for a pet monkey.

*End Of text*

FS [x]
FT [x]
WTB [ ] (Note: WTB is unchecked because you don't want to post to the WTB forum)

Now people going to the FS or FT forum would see your thread, but those going to the WTB section would not see it!! :):D:)

Bad idea. What if I'm selling a hard drive, but only trading a vid card, and needing a CPU all at the same time? Three posts in three forums?

EDIT - Now splitting the Hot Deals forum into "Junk Mail Freebies", and "PC Related Deals" might work.

Its fine the way it is....anyone remember when there wasn't even a fs/t forum and we would be posting in hot deals?

hehe no I don't remember that.

Well, what if there were little check boxes that let you specify what type of post you are making (FS/FT/WTB - one, a couple, or all of them)? A feature could then be implimented to search for only the type of post the person wanted (ie I want to buy a dreamcast, so I check the WTB option on the search page and enter "dreamcast" into the search box). Wouldn't this make it much easier to quickly check the type of posts you're looking for? I suppose it's not necessary, but would be a nice feature..

The way it SHOULD be split is FS/FT/WTB in one forum and BAD TRADER/PAYPAL BITCHING/TRADING QUESTIONS in another forum.

Why not just scroll past the ones that don't say "WTB or WTT" or whichever you're looking for? Seems like a lot of unnecessary "improvements" if you ask me.

I suppose it's not 100% necessary, but would be a nice feature if done the way I discribed in my last post.

Of course, if you were looking for something specific, you could use the search field at the top of the forum. It's great for what I do. The worst part about it is when people use titles like "Stuff for Sale" or "Look at my FS/T thread", and don't list specifics. You can't find it that way even if they have it.

Well there's a feature to search within the message, although I'm not sure how well it works as I haven't used it.

Yea, I suppose it works okay the way it is now. :) I've gotta remember to KISS (Keep it simple silly) ;)

That may be cool.
But pain in switching between topic areas.
FS/FT is open for all sales and trades.
I think its flowing just well like that.
NOW, an anandtech references feature like heatware would be a wonderful addon.
