I'm often at a loss to understand why some threads are locked and others aren't. I realize that moderating is done by a team of folks with differing personalities, but I find that some threads are locked for no apparent reason, with no explanation.
For example, this one.
Now, I realize the subject matter isn't exactly coffee talk for society at large. Still, I don't think the subject of the thread was offensive, and honestly, most of the people posting in that thread were doing so fairly responsibly. I think that a useful dicussion was taking place and it was killed before potentially valuable input was made. I, for one, would have liked to hear more of others' opinions.
Anyway.... an explanation for the lock in the first post of locked threads would be nice.
