I can see the threads now:

poster A - yada
poster B - same yada
poster C - are you an idiot B, A already said that!
poster B - I can't see A's posts.
poster D - same yada as A & B
poster E - what'd D say? my unblock isn't working.
poster A - don't know I have him blocked, too.

As true as that may very well be, it's no different to what we already have now:

poster A - how do i turn my computer on?
poster B - push the power button
poster C - i heard pushing the power button works
poster D - google it
poster E - you're all repeating yourselves...
poster F - all you have to do is push the power button

Uh, there seems to be a big difference. At least to me.

It's different but generally the same. People will repeat the same information with or without an ignore user option.

The ignore user option is really more appropriate in OT or P&N, where say a particular user continously keeps harping on Kerry/Bush/I'm drunk/JRun error quoting stuff.

Also the text inserted in the post instead of the original post @ least on the fourm I'm seeing it used on says:

You are ignoring this user. See entire thread or unignore this user

Both links allow you to see the whole thread, the first one temporarily unignores the user, & allows you to see the thread in it's entirity, the second one unignores the user permenantly (it would take 3 or so mouse clicks to re-ignore the user) & allows you to see the entire thread.

I wish but around here it wouldn't do much good since you'd likely see a trolls post in someone else's quote.

I remember last year someone suggested implementing a feature that allowed you to prevent certain people from being able to post in your thread, like a mini-ban. I thought it was a good idea but others sure didn't.

I would love to be able to ban certain users from posting in my threads...

DevilsAdvocate, I disagree. This feature is on our hitlist.

I wonder if he meant that it was pathetic because there are enough immature and stupid members to warrant such a feature?

You have chosen to ignore posts from Oldsmoboat because he hurts your feelings.

Muwahaha

There goes my self-esteem.

Do hurry up, a few idiots (*cough*nick1985*cough*) who have returned are already posting crap that I just dont want to read...

either an ignore or the mini ban that aves2k mentioned. Either would be great. I'd probably auto ban everybody at start, and then filter in the ones I like 🙂

If you autoban everyone from the start, doesn't that mean you won't see any posts 🙂 How's anyone supposed to get on your good side 🙂

I don't understand why you would need to have this feature. I mean, you can't just ignore someone without an ingore button. . .?

Strangely enough, I've been hanging in some other forums lately, and a couple have an option to ignore a specific user.

Any chance it could be implemented here?

Maybe an ignore option will cut down on people whining for someone to be banned.

Actually, I thought I was being pretty honest about why I wanted it. Alkemyst followed me to another board & I had to have him banned there as well, went a lot smoother than here too...

(next post will be alkemyst claiming it wasn't him...)

See, I could use this option right now... "click" no more reading posts from a guy who never gives his opinion, hangs in P&N, that I have no personal connection with & prob never will have, no more posts from J Heartless Slick...

Nixon or Reagan, (the worst presidents thread in P&N) they showed an astonishing lack of respect for the Constitution and rule of the law.

I mean, why the would I want to read this guy's posts, I think Nixon & Regan were great presidents... (seriously). I also thought Carter was one of the best in recent history.

http://www.aspplayground.net/ has this feature, the official Lineage2 forums (which I try not to frequent much) uses it and, from what I've seen is a very useful feature.

Mods can automatically block out users posts and either give the option to un-ignore the user or deny.

Like I said from what I've seen it's a very cool feature and would be interesting to see how it worked with FT 🙂
