How about adding a heatware profile link in users' profile?

As said in title, how about making a field called "Heatware profile" in each person's profile and making it mandatory to trade in the FS/FT forums? That might help get rid of some trolls and it would also make the person's heatware immediately evident and easy to compare the email addresses used in the AT profile and the heatware profile.

Sometimes I post an item for sale and get a reply where he doesn't state his heatware profile so I have to PM him, and then he has to PM me back - this can be a huge time sink if the person doesn't log on too often.

What do you all think, good idea or not?

I've seen people that have listed it as their "website" but i think an actual built in version would be a lot more worthwhile for those who hang in fs/ft...but then again there are plenty in OT who dont even come to fs/ft (even though they should ) who will wonder why its there...

I agree. Or at least maybe an option in the profile where you can enter in your own left hand side of the information (like ICQ/AIM/email/etc - have a blank box where the user can enter in whatever) - in this thread alone, all 4 people used the email in their profile - 2 people used it to show their AIM username, one their ICQ. It might be more beneficial to get rid of the useless ICQ one or add another box for heatware.

I can possibly add it to the profile, but i cannot make it mandatory I can't modify the code to do that because of upgrade paths.

Even just the addition would be great. It would provide additional sig space for a lot of members. It would be great also since profiles must be enabled in FS/FT.

great idea, just remember don't rely on it without getting an email from the email the heatware is listed under. Not only does this make it easy to go right to someone's heat, it also makes it easy for someone to use another's heat.
