I think a home improvement forum would be a good idea too. We've got 'youts' who own homes that haven't a clue with regards to basic electrical, plumbing and, construction.

This is first and foremost an electronic technology based website. I think they have to draw the line someplace or lose their focus more than they have already.

@Oldsmoboat - Do you ever have a nice word to say about anybody?

olds says lots of nice things about great members. The others get locked in his basement.

Please keep the site tech/geek orientated. We don't need a home improvement forum.

Yes. But you being ignorant of that doesn't make it not true.

then why have P&N, Health&Fitness, Love&Relationship, etc? Home&Garden can fall under Social. it adds diversity and value to the forums. i'm giving you good (free) advice here.

I tend to agree with you. I think Anandtech rather prostituted this site when they diverged from their strictly high tech and geek oriented mission statement. But that's just my opinion and others feel differently apparently. :)

I also think the 'tech' involved in housing and life in general is as important/interesting as computer related tech.

Be that as it may, Anandtech was always about electronics related technology not construction related technology. Everyone has their preferences only the owner has the final say on which direction Anandtech will go in the future.

Ok, do I revive this old thread because I also second a Home Improvement section or do I make a new thread and get yelled at because this is here?

Either would be fine. Regardless the subject is so niche here that I can't see such a forum surviving.

Some of the worst home improvement advice I've ever seen has been in OT. They would need a mod that could sort out the stupid and dangerous.
