7600GS is a decent card, 10%+ faster than a 6600GT, pretty much like a 6800nu, but with less demand on PSU. Trade for X-Fi? No way, more like trade for 7600GT :)

Correct

I would benchmark one to provide results but it will be a few weeks before I return to work :(

I hate long service leave.

ummm ever tested one in the real world?

I didn't think so

Despite what Toms hardware might have you believe with their "optimistic" benchmarks

A 7600GS is much closer to a 6800 than any 6800GT/GS.

Think back to when the GF4MX 440 and 460 first came out...sure the benchmarks looked good, especially when compared to a GF3 TI200...but were the cards any good....fvck no...they sucked big time, and were no match for a GF3 TI200 in almost all games...but unusually they benchmarked often slightly ahead....this is pretty much how the 7600GS is, it benchmarks well, but in reality it's much slower then we are lead to believe.

Typical response from someone who thinks that if they have more posts than someone that automatically means whatever they say is right. Mr Stumpy, if you read what he was saying at all, you'd realise he was telling you that in SOME, read that, SOME, have you got that now, SOME games, the 7600GS can be close to a 6800GT/GS in performance.

Check firingsquads review with oblivion, and in SOME areas it looks pretty damn close in framerate at times: "<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://Oblivion FPS">http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware...i..._mainstream_performance/page4.asp"</a>

He said earlier most of the time it is 6600GT performance, which is true, and sometimes is as fast as a 6800GS - which is TRUE.

Yet you call him an idiot - it seems that unless you are willing to admit you made a major mistake on this part, then you are exactly what you thought he was.

that sometimes is a very very small sometimes...but then looking at what I said about the GF3 and GF4MX, does that mean because a GF4MX can benchmark close to a GF3TI it automatically makes the GF4MX as fast as a GF3, I don't fvcking think so, same goes for the 7600GS.

timedemos and the like don't automatically translate into real world performance, just look at FEAR's built in benchmark, you can get the results to say that you get 100% framerates above 40FPS very easily, but does that mean that you are going to have that experience while playing the game, Fvck no, you really need to dial back some settings to get consistant results.

so many people look at benchmarks and take them for the absolute 100% truth, they only paint half a picture, the real truth is that a 7600GS can not compete with a 6800GS or GT for consistant frame rates, if you are are looking for consistancy then it is all most dead on even with 6800.

My customers are happy with that evaulation of the card, they don't get any unrealistic expectations and they don't come back complaining that it isn't performing as they expected.
