Time to see Bonds smack #714... Dashen and myself going so far... other ATOTers will be elsewhere in the park... who else is interested?

Update: Thanks to Dashen for making the trip a great time...

Monday night hit up chinatown for a bite of Pho

Tuesday night went to Minute Maid park to watch the Astros get spanked by the Giants 14-3

Followed by quality ahem-dancers....

Great times were had by all! See you next time Houston

Where are you staying? There's the whole NASA thing down in Clear Lake. I wouldn't recommend it, but I live within spitting distance from NASA so I'm kinda used to it. You came at a good time though, we've got great weather right now. If you go down 59 South and then take a right at Bellaire, you'll hit Chinatown. Great food around there.

If you want a beach (though not a stunning one) and some seafood, Galveston is the place to go, I sugest Casey's or Guido's they share the same building on the Seawall.
Casey's serves more Joes Crab Shack type food, where Guido's (pronounced guy-dough) is much more upscale and expensive.
You should be able to catch an Astro's game if you are in to baseball.
The wall of water (huge fountain) is pretty neat, its off of 59@610 in the galeria area.
NASA/Johnson Space Center is kinda nifty, if you are in the area check out the Webster Fry's, there is a 5/8ths scale mockup of the ISS INSIDE the store.
Try to avoid Texas City/La Marque, Pasadena/LaPorte, and Baytown, thats where all the chemical plants are.

Tonight might be the night to see Bonds tie Ruth's home run count.

The starting pitcher for the 'stros is also pretty decent... 24 years old, but an incredible arm (his first Major League start was aaaalmost a complete game one-hit shutout). Probably a future All Star, if he stays consistent.

I'd third the comment on an Astros game. I've been to a lot of parks in my time, and Minute Maid is one of my all-time favorites.

Of course, I'm biased. 😛

Hit the bus bar across the street major babes before the game...

Where do all the Katrina people live in Houston these days? I here they're upping the murder rates.

Ok I'm sold on going to see Bonds tommorow night... anyone else wanna go? Best available tix are listing at 47$ tier 1 club seats.

So come on guys.. anyone else up to watch the 'stros tommorow night? I'll buy the tix you pay me back...

We can do nice club level seats for 47$ or we can do the cheapie nosebleeds for $12. I'm game for either....

Take my advice, the cheap seats suck. You can see the game fine, but you are packed in to them like sardines.

Well if I end up going by my lonesome I'll get the good seats.. but if it would entice some company I'll go cheap... baseball is always better when you have people to hang out with. I'm sure I can still meet and make friends in the stands when I get there... but... it would be better with some atoters.

Beltway 8 and Bellaire is Chinatown (good cheap food)
Westheimer and Post Oak or Westheimer and 610 has a lot of stuff to do (Galleria Mall + good ritzy food)
Westheimer and Kirby has some nice places to eat (Chuy's for good Tex-Mex) Also, River Oaks Shopping district. $$ but nice area.
There is a place on Richmond and Fountainview (close to a Dave & Buster's) called KC's Sports bar which does $12 steak dinners on Monday nights. It is really good for the price, but it is really relaxed there (it is a bar).
Kemah Boardwalk has a few good seafood places, but that is near Galveston/Clear Lake.
Downtown has some nice restaurant. There is a expensive good steakhouse next to Minute Maid Park called Vic & Anthony's (1510 Texas Ave. 713.228.1111)
On Westheimer, there are two places with the same restaurant (Churrascos). One is near the Beltway 8 and the other is near Kirby. This place is good.

Kirby and University (Rice Village <shopping center full of the wealthy and college urbanites>) Good food, good shopping areas, cute college girls. 😉 😛 Ruggles, Two Rows, Kubo's... all good food places.

Montrose (great, great art district)
San Jacinto, Fannin, & Montrose (close to Rice Village, there is Hermann Park, the Museum of Natural Science with Body World on display right now, an IMAX, and a Hosuton Garden Center. Close by is the Fine Arts Museum ($7 for a ticket on discount, I think 9-10 otherwise). Miller Outdoor Theatre is here too, and they usually have free concerts and plays. http://www.milleroutdoortheatre.com
Close to here is Midtown which has some good restaurants. A good Vietnamese place is a place called Mai's.
Texas and Louissiana (Theatre district <Jones Hall, Alley Theatre,...) All Pricey, but fun. Jones hall is having a Johann Strauss Jr. performance this weekend. http://www.houstontheaterdistrict.org/
In Sugar Land. Just go South on 59 past Beltway 8, there is the Sugar Land City Hall and First Colony Mall. They have a place called Japaneiro's (fusion South American & Japanese). Plus a wine bar and a few bars and steak houses. Also a decent shopping area, but no where close to Rice Village.

There is the Toyota Center (but we didn't make the playoffs) 🙁, Minute Maid Park (but we are going to suck this year) 🙁, Reliant stadium (we have been sucking for the past few years) 🙁, The Dynamo are supposively alright if you like soccer, but it is at the UH Soccer field.

As for strip joints. I have heard that Michael's is high brow, Colorado is supposively nice too. 59 near Hillcroft. There are many other places on Richmond, and also on Westheimer. I have been to none of them, so I can't tell you exactly how they are, except that I heard that Michaels is the most $$ cover.

Night life, clubs. Main Street in Downtown is pretty happening. Mid town next to downtown has a few places. There are a few places across the 59 highway from Downtown. Westheimer has a few places, too.

There are a few other places, btu that should cover you for a week or two.

But baseball in Houston isn't that good right now 🙁

I wouldn't mind going to some place tomorrow night (Tuesday) to eat.

If you like Japanese food (Tai Co's on Westheimer and Fountainview is good)

Doh... I have a speech to do tonight. I can't get out of it. And even if I could get out of it, I am already missing my favorite show Grey's Anatomy. The season finale tonight. 🙁

How long are you in town? Maybe we can do Wednesday. Two Rows in Rice Village has $1 Micro-brew  on Wednesday nights.
