My Dad called me this morning to 1) make sure I was awake, since I miss classes sometimes, and 2) to inform me before I even asked that my Grandmother and Aunt had already packed up and left from their homes in Nassau Bay, which if it isn't in Galveston county is damn close. (Hardly surprising, as Grandma is 92. Don't want to take any chances there) Aunt Judy lives in a subdivision directly across from the NASA Space Center, Grandma lives just up the road. Both places are a couple hundred feet from the bay. I hope their homes don't get battered too badly, or flooded too much; a decent storm swell could really f%$# some of the homes around there up, as it's been known to severely flood when it rains, let alone when a cat 3+ hurricane comes to town.
On a personal note, I seriously hope this doesn't destroy or severely disrupt the shrimping industry for too long. I love Gulf Shrimp; they're one of the highlights of our yearly trip to Houston.
