the first city limit mandatory evac was called for the heights.

i'm still undescided if i'm going to bail out or not. it all depends on how things look tomorrow night. if it's bad i'm out of here going to dallas. right now i'm running backups on all my systems and they're getting shipped to dallas tonight.

Crap!

Well, they just shut down ALL the school districts starting tomorrow.
Almost all the colleges are shutting down.

My bosses are leaving tonight to go out of town away from Houston.

Lots of places are running out of bottled water.

Went to get some gas and the local gas station was empty.

People seem to be freaking out.... guess they are worried that it'll be Katrina all over again.

I'm avtually heading to walmart now to pick up some supplies. I'll pick up gas while i'm out too. 30mpg ftw.

Wow. My parents lived in Seabrook/Clear Lake while I was going to college. Nice area. Hope it does ok.

On a side note, nice to see that the local officials in the Houston and Galveston areas know what they are doing and have buses available to get people out of the city.

Actually either way there is going to be a spike in gas prices. They have to shut down the plants to evacuate the workers just in case. It is not easy to do a cold start on an oil refinery, it takes several days. Looks like no matter what happens we are going to be down almost half our refining ability for the next 4 days, longer if the storm actually comes in near here.

i'm going to austin, i think. although, austin looks like it will get some bad weather. storm looks like it'll hit to the south and then come around to the west of houston. that makes houston on the northeast side of the storm, where the biggest surge is. possibly flooding could reach inside the east loop.

first i'm going to secure the apartment.

Mandatory Evac for level 4 and 5, and 45 S is closing down at 6pm today (Wed). Crazy

Fort Bend is on high alert, may evac by tomorrow, even though not in the immediate danger area.

somehow, I don't think bottled water and canned good are going to be at the top of their list....
