Houston Area ATer's: Stolen Car Help

Some lowlife piece of shit decided to steal my brother's car out of his driveway last night. There was no broken glass, so I would guess it was popped open with a slim jim and hotwired. He had all his tools in the back as he's an electrician.

Car details:
93 Honda Civic (some type of blue) Forgot to add that it's a hatch DX
License plate: G30 MWW This was the wrong plate on the title - He told me the plate is either DRN 611 or 611 DRN. He will call me tomorrow so I can update.

If it's not in a chop shop right now, would you guys mind keeping an eye out for it? This was in the Katy area, but it might be anywhere in Houston (if it's not on its way to Mexico). It's his work beater car, but it pisses me off to know someone took it. It's the principle of the matter. The sheriffs were called, but were anything but helpful. My brother told me they didn't even take down the pertinent information. I believe this as I was with a friend when his GTO was hit and run in a parking lot. The sheriffs took an hour and a half to come and didn't even take the broken bumper from the car that hit him. If you guys help to catch the fucker, I'll make sure my brother gets a picture of the guy getting a swift kick to the balls. 🙂

sucks. Probably not a pro, sounds like some kids on a joy ride. Probably will be found in the woods or abandoned in a parking lot pretty messed up.

Sorry man. Hope the cops don't turn on your brother.

Edited the original post in bold. Thanks for those that are keeping an eye open.

Ryan711, I understand what you're saying. I'm black, but I don't feel comfortable with the evacuees around. Crime has skyrocketed since they've been here.

It's gone, man. Even if they recover it, you're not going to want it. My buddy's 2000 Si got stolen a few years ago. They recovered it, and it was in perfect shape, except it was rolling on steel rims, had no hood, front fascia, seats, airbag, engine, or ECU.

Civics are a popular car and have been for a long time, so the aftermarket (legit or not) for parts is astronomical. It's the older models that get stolen quite a bit, too, since they're long out of warranty.

Not to be a drag, that's just the world we live in. The tools are the biggest loss, I'm sure. Did your brother carry Comprehensive coverage? If so, he should be able to get the value of the car plus those tools. If he has that coverage and the ins. co is giving you a hard time, feel free to PM me for a bit more detailed advice. Best of luck.

Depending on the value of the tools, he could put a claim on his renters or homeowner's insurance. Comprehensive auto insurance is for the vehicle only; things inside are on your homeowners insurance.

hindsight is 20/20, but leaving all your tools in a car that is near the top of the 10 most stolen cars on a regular basis isn't a good idea...

i have had 2 car steroes stolen and some fog lights, so I know it is a shitty feeling...good luck to your brother...

Hi MoMeanMugs.

That really sucks, thieves suck in any color....

I live in Friendswood and I will keep my nose to the ground for your brother.

I hope he gets his car and tools back.

I will help him deliver the crotch punch if possible.

🙂

Yea that sucks, my dad his tools stolen from a locked Windstar inside a locked (standalone) garage behind a locked fence.. They even tried to steal the sh*tty bike from the garage....
