What is a "stick built" house? Is it just saying that it has a wooden frame or something like that? I've never heard that term before.

Also, $120k for a doublewide? Doesn't that mean doublewide trailer? are these people nuts or am I never going to own a home at these prices?

Both. ;)

That said, you can find small houses for that price range depending on the area, but even then, well, you either get lucky of get what you pay for.

That probably depends on how much land comes with it ;)

okay, that makes sense then. I had priced double wides at one point, and they were no where near that expensive. Most people in this area purchase the land separately.

actually though, that still sounds pretty expensive for "hicksville" area of PA.

What's the name of this "low-income hicksville" you speak of?

Long ago...when I got out of college, in 2003-2004 I had a plan to buy a trailer, live in it, then sell it and use that as a down payment on real house. I even managed to talk my wife into the idea. After doing some shopping I was dismayed to find that trailers cost so fucking much it was a waste of time even considering that plan.

And they lose value instead of gaining like stick built. So, it's a good thing you gave up on the idea.

Do you mean in the middle of nowhere, or Hicksville, PA?

I guess it doesn't matter much since Hicksville is in the middle of nowhere.
