Incorrect. They come back Thursday. This bailout is not going to pass that quickly, if at all, even if they stayed on it with no break.

the house isn't technically in session.

I'd imagine, however, over the next two days every representative who matters is going to have his blackberry buzzing non-stop and negotiations and deal making will continue behind the scenes.

Remember in Douglas Adam's Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy when the spacecraft was out of control? They were trying to regain control when suddenly the craft corrected itself. When asked what happened, they said they just stopped fiddling with the controls.

They were supposed to be off for ........ are your ready ......... the rest of the year. Nice work if you can find it.

Nice of them to hang around and try to push an important bill or two through.

What a shit storm they've got going on. They need to high-tail it back home to do some campaigning. They've got this financial meltdown to deal with. To top it off, they're between a rock and a hard place. Do they follow the desires of their constituents and forsake the needs of the people who are truly lining their pockets or do they vote to keep the gravy train rolling in and risk not being re-elected.

That damned bill that won't allow them to get a job as a lobbyist for two years after leaving office sure sounded good at the time. Kinda biting them on the ass now.

I think they should vote to keep the payoffs rolling in. Homeland security will fend off the first wave or two of irate taxpayers with torches and hanging nooses in their hands. They just might have time to get out of dodge and escape the burning of the White House, the Congress and the Senate.

History in the making folks.

Its always some holiday or another, we have more holidays than we have days in the
year. Any excuse is a good excuse. When the going get tough, the tough go on vacation. The rest of them run for the hills.

Awww the poor congressmen. Maybe with all the stress they'll all die from heart attacks? Time for them to actually do some work and stick up for their constituents.

Yeah I do, but in reality. Most Congressmen/women wont be in DC.

And it reality it doesnt matter because Senior Congressional aides do most of the work anyways...
