There are at least 5-10 Republicans that would have voted against going forward with impeachment hearings against Biden (which is why McCarthy went forward on the authority of the Chair to start impeachment hearings - without any vote taking place to proceed).

And "only" about 2/3 of the House Republicans voted with Trump to overthrow the democratic election.

Kurt Volker was on CNN this afternoon. With talks of Jordan stopping aid and other Repugican talking points we can’t trust Ukraine with all this cash, he clarified, these aid packages are primarily for weapons. It’s not like Ukraine is given the cash to go buy weapons from the local dealer. Aid package is used by government that pays US military contractors which they ship to Ukraine. So wonder if the weapon manufacturers foresee the lack of upcoming fat cheques and offer several shipments for free to maintain a flow of product? Or maybe Biden can give EO to these government contractors to still send shipments with payments later.

SC district 1 has slowly been turning more democratic, even with gerrymandering. Mace is no fool, she's the type of R who would break from the party to save her seat

If you really want to be surprised check out James Clyburn, 3rd ranking member of the US House Democrats from SC 6. He's deep in his State politics, he wanted an easy win, so he supported the gerrymandering which created a seat for Nancy Mace, swinging a recent democratically held seat back to Republican control. He is disgusting.

Contracts for committed USAI purchases (new weapons bought for Ukraine from US manufacturers) are still in progress and some of them have not been officially awarded yet either. Keeping the government open does more to get these done than the 300M of Ukraine funding in the last CR would. At the same time Biden still has over $5B in presidential drawdown authority so he can keep supplying munitions to Ukraine for quite some time even if it takes a while for congress to approve more money, which they will one way or another. Reprogramming funds is also an option if need be thanks to the Trump years where he stole billions from other programs for his border wall without challenge.
